We had a warm welcome from friendly helpful staff. This was our fifth visit so they did remember us. As it was early in the season, the site was peaceful but slightly busier over the Pentecost weekend.
It was a well kept large pitch with shade from the trees which was very useful when the temperature exceeded 30+c.
Our only gripe were the ants!! Spray bought from the Auchan Supermarket soon cured that!

It was a little tight getting out of the pitch and would have been very difficult for a larger Motorhome.

Friendly, helpful staff and a very nice site. Natural woodland surroundings and very comfortable facilities. Definitely recommend and hope to return soon and will stay longer.
Showers are a little dated but perfectly adequate.
Large, private screened pitch with up-rated electric supply and easy water connection. Very well thought out and amongst lovely woodland surroundings.

Fabulous pitch, very large, surrounded by hedges and trees, great facilities on pitch bathroom, fridge, furniture & bbq. Swimming pools were great, fishing good, cannot fault it
It would of been great of we could of done activities like golf/tennis in the evenings when it was cooler as too hot in the day.
Incredible pitch, clean facilities , lovely shaded pitch, freezer was an added bonus we thought it was just a fridge.

I would have expected a better stocked shop, but perhaps this was because we were at the end of the season. It would have been helpful to have a EV charging point.

The restaurant is only a bistro, really. We were also surprised, as there was no castle (we've been to a couple of other Les Castels sites, and all of them were actual castles)

Improve pitch size. Our pitch was supposed to be large but we were squeezed in with no defined borders, people walking through the pitch and washing hanging across a ‘supposed’ border. No privacy at all. Inadequate pitch for the size of our caravan and high cost of it. Inadequate room for parking for adjacent pitches meant cars parked on our pitch on arrival. Too noisy with far too many children running around and on bikes.

Really disliked the site, felt very overcrowded and cramped. Unkempt borders/ grass too long. Not for us! Nothing like previous Castel sites we have stayed on. Very disappointing.
Hello Donna, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. There has clearly been a misunderstanding about the nature of the site and what you were looking for. Our estate is geared towards families and children. Your pitch was over 180 m², bordered on two sides by hedges and trees that mark the boundary and provide shade; we practise sustainable maintenance, which is why the borders are more natural. The description ‘pitch with private bathroom facilities’ means that the bathroom facilities are private, but the pitch is neither fenced off nor completely enclosed. When you arrived, a badly parked car temporarily blocked the entrance; we found the owner and cleared the entrance within about 30 minutes. As you chose to cut your stay short because you found the atmosphere too lively, you were only charged for the time you actually stayed (two nights). We take note of your disappointment; it has less to do with the square footage than with an expectation of tranquillity that was not met at this family campsite. Nice location. The little building where the bbq was, was a surprise.
I was expecting to swim in the little lake. There I was misguided. The pool is to small for the camping site. In entrance of the pool is messy wirh all those slippers. 5 stars, ok but for every activity you had to pay extra. You had to pay for Wifi.

We found this site well situated a short cycle from the Loire. Our pitch was well sized with sun for part of the day. I did note many pitches were entirely shaded which would only have been beneficial in scorching weather. The showers were excellent, powerful with hot water. Washing up facilities were poor, there were only 4 sinks squashed into a tiny space with no room to move. The whole campsite had a tired feel and was in need of updating.
The pool needs area needs improving for the size of the campsite with better slides. The restaurant was very poor quality and the food awful. I would recommend avoiding.

For washing up, the campsite has three separate sink areas spread across the site. For swimming, our 1,000 m² outdoor water park includes slides, a 30 m² paddling pool and a 200 m² pool. Relaxed atmosphere of the site and the well portioned pitches with plenty of shade. Lots of facilities- pools, the bar, fishing lake, and kayaking lake. A well looked after site with polite, helpful staff.
Maybe a few more toilets and dish washing facilities. Sometimes a queue and the water wasn’t always hot for washing up. A more extensive shop on site. There aren’t any easily walkable shops so reliant on car. A freezer to freeze ice packs would be good.
Good mixture of shade & sun. Plenty of space. Easily accessible water. Some privacy because of the hedge.

Beautiful camping: green, nice atmosphere and sports pitches like soccer, tennis, table tennis and swimming.
Swimmingpool is closed at 19.30pm, that is too early in summertime.
Big garden, privacy and great view. Nice porch with big sliding doors to living. Nice shower, big fridge and modest freezer. Airconditioning, but we didn’t use it as our accommodation was in shade of trees. Quite new accomodation.
We like soft mattresses, but these were much too hard for us. A very thick topper would solve the problem. Very thin inner walls, like you stay in a tent.

A very pleasant site with easy access to many local places worth visiting and sufficient on-site activities to keep us busy on days when we didn't want to travel. The cost was very reasonable and, given the high quality of the site and welcoming staff, we would certainly consider returning again in future.
One thing that could be improved would be to have an on-site shop for the basics: bread, milk, eggs, bacon, an onion or two, that sort of thing. There was a daily bread/croissant ordering service which we used and worked well, but to have the ability to drop in and get a few things for a meal would be nice and save having to rush out to the local hypermarche for little things.
Perfect for our needs. The pitch was well suited for our caravan: easy access to power, water, waste-water facilities etc. The pitch had good shade and the amenities (toilet/shower/washing area) was always clean and pleasant.
