Flower Camping L'Ile d'Offard

Really nice campsite. Easy cycle distance to Saumur, some on bike track by the Loire, otherwise bike lanes into town. Very nice reception staff. Well stocked basics to buy at reception. Bakery up the road also. We were lucky enough to eat in the campsite one evening for a serve yourself Paella Soirée. Showers and toilets well maintained. Will definitely go back to this campsite. Very relaxed.

Nice bar and pool. Facilities clean and well maintained. All the usual available, water, waste, Elsan and EHU, well set out.

The welcoming staff. The Restaurant location with lovely views across the river. The excellent swimming pool. The private facilities on our pitch.

It must be difficult to prioritise work that’ needs doing across the campsite. It’s often small things that need fixing, and attention to detail.

Great location, facilities are all well looked after, placements are spacious, and the pool / view of the chateau are amazing!

+ pool, toilets and showers ok, close to Saumer with 30 minute walk. Saumur is a lovely town. !

- we paid for electric and water. No water as it had been boarded up. Went to reception who said they would send a technician and nobody turned up. We were given a pitch right apposite the toilet and 5-6 minute walk from reception and pool. Our pitch was on a sort of island and extremely close to out neighbours. One was out all day and was talking his phone until 1am right outside our window

Flat pitch in the trees. Toilets were clean with plenty of hot water. Close to the town.

The site was very busy. There was no security, the barriers were not working and there was no gate. There were cars arriving and departing at 2 and 3 am which made sleeping difficult. The staff at reception were very nice and helpful. The toilets and showers were fine

Repair the barrier. The aire next door seemed safer and stop cars circulating in the middle of the night

Location Amenities

Great location and a wonderful camping site. The staff are welcoming and efficient with a quick booking in process. Having an account helps here and I'd recommend having one. The site is in walking distance of the town where there are plenty of places to eat, drink and relax. There is plenty of culture as well. Don't forget the river. So much to see and do.

Friendly and helpful staff especially in the restaurant/bar.

Only found 1 fresh water tap near us and this was at the motorhome service point. The wc emptying point tap and fresh water tap are close together and I saw someone washing out their cassette with the wrong tap. A separate clean water tap would much improve hygiene.

Location is excellent, toilets and showers clean, pitch a good size and mostly grass. Welcoming staff in reception. Good facilities. Overall an excellent site which I have visited many times previously.

The restaurant menu was limited to a buffet of hot meat and fish stews with cold sides - coleslaw, shredded carrots etc, unfortunately not to my taste. Lamb was neck and probably not cooked long enough as very chewy. Saffron chicken was excellent. I would have preferred a wider choice of food such as burgers /pizza. The chef and staff were welcoming. A notice in the shower block said to remove footwear before entering the shower area, which I did. Good idea but doesn’t work as other people left muddy footprints on the tiles that I had to avoid after showering, resulting in gritty feet!

Campsite ideally placed to visit Saumur. Very helpful staff with a choice of pitches available, all of a good size. Lots of activities available and the pool was super.

The choice of food in the restaurant

Loved the location. Chilled out vibe. Shady pitches.

Food wasn’t great in restaurant. When it rained, pitch turned into a bit of a mud bath. If site is full, bigger swimming pool would be beneficial.

A clean and friendly site with brilliant views of Saumur Chateau and town.

We were 3 families with kids aged 8-13. They brought bikes and campsite size was ideal for them to have freedom and make friends. The pool is small and can get busy but again safe and ideal for the kids and being able to watch them . The town of Saumar is a 10 min walk which is great . Staff were very friendly.

We have been to lots of different campsites in France and I would say that this campsite could do with more general maintenance. The sanitaires need a bit updating and there are not enough toilets . It’s also the first site where there are no toilet seats on most of the toilets. They also need cleaning a bit for frequently. Having said that they were adequate . The restaurant was not great and their pizza oven was broken when we were there but other than a drink we were quite happy having bbq’s on our pitch.
